Andy Shenkler is the Executive Vice President Operations and Business Strategy for Sony DADC New Media Solutions. He is responsible for the design, development and execution of industry-leading tool sets supporting Sony DADC’s video distribution supply chain. With his innovative approach to video supply chain, Mr. Shenkler led the build-out of advanced enterprise applications that support the evolving requirements of global Media & Entertainment and Content Distribution customers – helping them to meet the challenges of today’s digital media landscape. He has over seventeen years’ experience managing global organizations and development efforts focusing on digital asset management, supply chains, and e-commerce. Prior to Sony DADC, he served as Global Vice President of Digital Operations for Ascent Media Group where he implemented several media transformation solutions used by Studio customers. Mr. Shenkler has also consulted for a variety of entertainment companies, including Reliance MediaWorks and The Walt Disney Company, where he defined and drove the execution of digital distribution strategies. As Director of Global Digital Operations & Asset Management for EMI Music Group, he developed the company’s first digital asset management system and digital archiving standards. He has held information technology management positions at Yahoo/Geocities and P&O Nedlloyd. He holds a B.S. degree in Management from Pepperdine University.

Guy Finley, MESA’s Executive Director, started his career in the entertainment industry as a successful performer and producer, making music with industry giants such as Phil Ramone, Elliott Scheiner, and Dave Grusin. Guy joined the home entertainment industry as president of LFA, Inc., providing home video brand and business consulting services for a worldwide clientele. His firm represented JVC (Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.) in North America licensing the loading and duplication of VHS videocassettes bearing the VHS Logo Trademark. He became the director of operations for CDSA (then IRMA, International Recording Media Association) in 2005 where he pioneered the Daily News Portal, co-chaired the accountability sub-committee of EPCglobal Item Level Tagging Public Policy Steering Committee and helped form the Plastic DVD Packaging Standards Committee (authoring the standard used to certify packaging plants around the world).

With DEG: the Digital Entertainment Group since its formation in 1997, Amy Jo Smith serves as executive director of the industry-supported trade coalition dedicated to advancing home entertainment products and exploring other digital entertainment products. Under her leadership, the DEG is credited with helping to make DVD the fastest growing consumer electronics product in industry history.

Smith is responsible for managing the trade association and marketing DVD, Blu-ray Disc and digital entertainment on behalf of the Hollywood studios, music companies and leading consumer electronics manufacturers. Smith is responsible for administration and the marketing and public relations of the group including media relations, trade outreach and collateral materials.

Under Smith’s leadership, the DEG membership base has grown to include more than 60 leading companies in the home entertainment space. As part of their work, they engage regular dialogue with the DEG Retail Advisory Board including mass merchants, regional, online, e-tailers, rental chains and independent retailers. The DEG also has a comprehensive initiative aimed at bettering eco-friendly practices of home entertainment products.

In 2007, Smith was the recipient of the Visionary Award presented by Home Media Magazine and Hollywood Reporter. She was given the industry’s top honor for her tireless efforts for evangelizing home entertainment products. Smith was listed in Video Business’ Women Elite in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Prior to joining the DEG, Smith served a brief tenure as communications advisor for the Clinton White House. She also worked on the Clinton for President campaign in 1992. She was an aide to Los Angeles Mayor Dick Riordan, Los Angeles City Council President John Ferraro and Los Angeles School board president Mark Slavkin.

Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania.

Albert Koval is responsible for Testronic Labs’ global UltraViolet Services and oversees Software Testing in the US. He is charged with developing and managing key services that support important new developments throughout the digital content ecosystem; including UltraViolet compliance verification, test automation, software application testing, and user experience (UX) testing.

Prior to joining Testronic, Koval served as Director of UltraViolet Services at Solekai Systems in San Diego, CA. There he was responsible for managing the overall UltraViolet-related business, including the design and development of the DECE Compliance Verification Program (CVP) and the DECE CFF Verifier, and served as the primary interface to the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), the industry consortium developing the UltraViolet specifications.

Koval has spent much of his career as a senior manager in complex testing environments involving high performance computing and high-availability enterprise storage platforms, test automation, artificial intelligence, and firmware, middleware, and software development. He also has a background in broadcast video production and post-production.
