Arthur R. Hair, Chief Technology Officer, Walt Disney Studios
Mr. Hair is the Chief Technology Officer of the Walt Disney Studios, and is responsible for the operations of the Studio New Technology department. The Studio New Technology department focuses on the evaluation and application of new technologies that support evolving business models related to the motion picture business. The Studio New Technology department works closely with business segments within the studio to identify major changes and opportunities to transition new technologies out of R&D and into operations to improve the studio’s business capacity and profitability. The department is focusing on new technologies in production, post-production, theatrical exhibition, and home entertainment that will assist the studio in a transition from physical workflows to automated file-based workflows. The resulting global digital operation and supply-chain will effectively service existing and emerging channels, while ensuring interoperability, high quality, and long-term preservation of Disney’s motion picture properties.
Mr. Hair is a member of The Walt Disney Company Technology Strategy Board and a member of The Walt Disney Studios Environmental Taskforce. Mr. Hair is a 1982 graduate of Purdue University, beginning his career as a manufacturing engineer in defense electronics then transitioning into movie and music eCommerce. Mr. Hair received 21 patents in the United States, Australia, Austria, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain and Taiwan and he has been granted another 15 in Europe.
