Dan Esty is the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University. He holds faculty appointments at both Yale‚Äôs Environment and Law Schools. He is the Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy as well as the Yale World Fellows Program. Professor Esty is the author or editor of eight books and numerous articles on environmental policy issues and the relationships between the environment and trade, globalization, security, competitiveness, international institutions, and development. His current research agenda includes projects on environmental protection in the Information Age, a rethinking for corporate environmental strategy, global environmental governance, and ‚Äúnext generation‚ÄĚ approaches to pollution control and natural resource management. Prior to taking up his current position at Yale, Professor Esty was a Senior Fellow at the Institute for International Economics, a Washington, D.C., think tank. From 1989-93, Professor Esty served in a variety of senior positions on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency including Special Assistant to the EPA Administrator, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Agency, and Deputy Assistant Administrator for Policy. During his tenure at the EPA, Professor Esty managed the EPA‚Äôs regulatory review process, coordinated inter-Agency relations, and contributed to a number of policy initiatives including the 1990 amendments to the Clean Air Act. He also negotiated several international agreements on behalf of the EPA including the 1992 Climate Change Convention, the environmental provisions of NAFTA, and various elements of the agreements concluded at the Rio Earth Summit. Professor Esty spent the 2000-01 academic year as a visiting Professor at INSEAD, the European business school in Fontainebleau, France. He served four years as an elected Planning and Zoning Commissioner in his hometown of Cheshire, Connecticut. He sits on the Board of Directors of several companies and environmental groups.

Eric started his career in the media industry at Denon Digital in 1986 with one of the first disc replicating companies in the United States. In 1996, Eric joined Mitsubishi’s U.S. disc packaging unit Atlanta Precision Molding as General Manager of West Coast Operations for California Precision Molding. Following the purchase of California Precision Molding by Palladium Equity Partners and the formation of Nexpak in 1999, Eric’s role expanded to include video and DVD packaging sales for the West Coast. In 2003, Eric accepted a position with MeadWestVaco’s newly formed venture AGI Polymatrix helping to expand the AGI brand into the plastic media packaging market. Eric’s primary focus is working with replicators, studios, and retailers to find the best media packaging solution throughout the supply chain and promoting the Red Tag Security line to the retail and rental market place.

Bob Chapek, President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE), is responsible for the worldwide marketing, sales and distribution of the studio’s Disney, Touchstone, Miramax, Dimension and ABC properties in the home entertainment marketplace. 

Chapek is responsible for maximizing the commercial value of the company’s creative assets in the lucrative home entertainment marketplace, and as such, leads the development of business plans to exceed both short and long-term goals. In addition to the development of the creative marketing plans and retail programs designed to maximize sales, he oversees the development of various new technologies including next generation high-definition Blu-ray Disc features, such as BD-Live, Picture-in-Picture, BD-Java, etc., and electronic sell through distribution of WDSHE movies. Additionally, he is also responsible for managing the complex supply chain that eventually delivers hundreds of titles to thousands of retailers every year as well as the development of Disney DVD/Blu-Ray programming and supplemental materials for WDSHE titles that have been repeatedly recognized as the most innovative in the industry.

Chapek has led the organization to record-setting performances on titles as diverse as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Cars and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. He has also played a key role in the commercialization of the direct-to-video business through the DisneyToon line of sequels to Classic Disney movie franchises and the development of the Air Buddies live action movie franchise.

Chapek joined WDSHE in May 1993 as Director of Marketing and held several titles at increased levels of responsibility in Marketing at WDSHE until his promotion to President of North America in 2000. In this marketing capacity, he led the strategic and creative efforts on such record-setting titles as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Lion King, Toy Story and The Sixth Sense. He subsequently was promoted to President of the Global Home Entertainment business in 2006, leading the worldwide division to record-setting results.

Chapek is current Chairman, and for five years served as President, of the Digital Entertainment Group, an industry association comprised of movie studios, the music industry, and consumer electronics hardware manufacturers brought together to advocate and promote the many benefits associated with physical and electronic media and new digital technologies.

Prior to joining Disney, Chapek held brand management positions in the packaged goods industry with the H.J. Heinz Company and in the advertising business with J. Walter Thompson.

Chapek holds a B.S. degree from Indiana University (’81) and an M.B.A. from Michigan State University (’84) and resides in Southern California with his wife and three children.

Richard Bullwinkle joined Macrovision in January 2007 after Macrovision acquired Mediabolic, where he had served as vice president of products and chief evangelist. Since that time Richard has served as Macrovision‚Äôs chief evangelist responsible for corporate strategy. In his role, Richard helps define the direction of the company‚Äės products and technology solutions. He represents Macrovision at numerous industry events to gather market perspectives and understand trends that have an impact on the company‚Äôs customers and the end consumer in order to provide recommendations to the senior team. He also works to establish standards and lead the discussions to promote a better consumer experience throughout the CE industry.

With roles at Mediabolic, Rio Audio, and TiVo, Richard is well known in consumer electronics and entertainment industries.

As vice president of products and chief evangelist at Mediabolic, Richard helped pioneer the connected home strategy of connecting entertainment media devices. As a senior member of Rio Audio’s product marketing team, Richard played an instrumental part in the creation of some of the most popular MP3 players in the US. At Tivo, Richard was the company‚Äôs chief evangelist and a senior member of TiVo’s product marketing team. He helped create and develop the TiVo products and was behind the campaign to make the TiVo product a household name.
