June 2nd: The Road to 3D

The emergence of 3D as the driving force behind Digital Cinema has also spawned additional new entertainment opportunities — for both consumers and the industry alike.

Given the sheer number of broadcast, electronics and content companies that are now racing to enter this market, it’s essential that our industry grasp the numerous implications that are related to 3D implementation; as well as the significance this holds for consumers.

On June 2, DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group is sponsoring an exclusive 3D Forum for the trade specifically to address this issue. Join leading executives from across the industry as they take a closer look at the key factors affecting 3D content development and deployment over a variety of devices and distribution platforms.

Preliminary Program

1 – 2 p.m.
The Evolution of Packaged Media
This panel will review the key factors that have impacted the transition from DVD to Blu-ray Disc, in terms of mainstream consumer adoption. The panelists will also discuss the role Blu-ray 3D will play in helping to ensure the ongoing importance of packaged media.Β  Tom Adams, President of of Adams Media Research, will moderate.

2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
3D – The Experience at Home
In order to avoid confusion in the marketplace, it’s imperative that we educate consumers, retail and the media about 3D. This panel will address the importance of aligning the 3D marketing and promotional messages that are being deployed. Richard Doherty, Co-Founder and Director, Envisioneering Group will moderate.

3:30 – 4 p.m.

4 – 5 p.m.
3D Marketing Strategy
What will the consumer 3D experience be like in the home based upon the various delivery options available, including Blu-ray 3D, cable, broadcast, satellite and the web? This panel will outline the enhancements that are being developed for 3D to make home entertainment more convenient and exciting. Marc Finer, DEG Technical Director, will moderate.
