Buzz Hays,
Senior Vice President of the 3D Technology Center,
Sony Corporation

Hays is responsible for overseeing the production and post-production of all 3D content and 3D technology consulting for Sony Corporation. He is one of the leading experts in the field of modern stereoscopic production.

Recently, Hays produced the 3D version of the family adventure G-FORCE, a Jerry Bruckheimer Production for Walt Disney Pictures.

Hays’ work also includes producing the 3D versions of MONSTER HOUSE, OPEN SEASON, and Robert Zemeckis’ BEOWULF.

Between 1987 and 1993, Hays served as director of engineering at Lucasfilm THX where he was responsible for all research and development efforts including the THX Sound System and Home THX.

Hays holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maine.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Jake spent 6 years with Media.net Communications as a Director of Operations and then CEO, delivering high-end hosted and private cloud-based collaborative media workflow solutions over IP networks for production and postproduction companies around the world.

Jake has a BA degree from California State University Long Beach in Film & Electronic Arts and a MBA degree from the Marshall School of Business at University of Southern California.

Mike McGuire is a research vice president for Gartner, Inc.’s Media Industry Advisory Services team. Mr. McGuire covers the online content business focusing on how music, movie and TV/video are extending their distribution strategies to the Internet. He has a particular interest in understanding the value of social media and social networks on existing media companies. He also looks after Gartner’s coverage of legal and regulatory issues that affect media companies. Topics include licensing issues, content-protection/DRM issues and changing patterns of media consumption among consumers. Prior to re-joining Gartner in 2000, Mr. McGuire worked with mobile computing start-ups in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California. He was at Dataquest from 1994 through 1997 as senior and principal analyst for the mobile computing program. Prior to that he covered Apple for PC Week after stints in PR and marketing positions at companies such as Octel, GRID and Geoworks. He has a B.A. in journalism from San Jose State University.
