Andy Evans
Fresh from a Masters degree in 1994, The Pavement’s managing director, Andy Evans began his career in multimedia solutions and Virtual Reality simulations at the BT Research Laboratories, prior to joining London-based post production facility TVI two years later. There he focussed on MPEG applications, including VideoCD and CD-ROM projects in the corporate sector before relaunching the division as a DVD production studio called Stream. Under his guidance, the company authored some of the first pan-European DVDs for clients such as Universal Pictures and MGM.
Andy left Stream in 2000 to form The Pavement (www.thepavement.com) with then partners Kristen O’Sullivan and Lloyd Shaer. The Pavement quickly became known as London’s premier media and motion graphic production company and one of Europe’s most creative DVD facilities, mastering a wide variety of discs for the music, TV, feature film and corporate sectors.
In 2005, the company was approached by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) to become part of their beta development of UMD-Video tools and Andy pioneered this new technology at The Pavement, producing some 50 UMD titles.
Going from strength to strength, the team relocated from Shoreditch to Soho in 2008, also launching its popular Blu-ray division, which today continues to enjoy steady growth in the TV, film and music industries.
Recognising the studio’s potential, one of the largest independent film production and post production companies in the US and UK - Goldcrest Group invested in The Pavement at the beginning of 2009, in a bid to develop the company’s much sought-after service offering, including Blu-ray, DVD, online, mobile and production.
And with more than a decade at the cutting edge, Andy has most recently steered The Pavement to increase its already popular mobile content provision with the launch of a new iPhone App development service.
