Spencer is EA’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) responsible for global Security and Risk Management (SRM) at the world’s largest interactive games developer based in San Francisco.
Spencer is a Security Professional with 26 years experience in the Security industry with employment antecedents in Corporate Risk Management, IT security, Cyber Defence, Software Development Security, Law Enforcement and Intellectual Property Compliance.
Spencer leads EA’s Global Security & Risk Management team consisting of 40 security specialists and an EA SRM ‘community’ called ‘Sentinels’ made up of EA employees who formally advocate SRM goals and objectives.
Spencer has been with EA for 8 years, 4 years as the company’s CISO. Prior to EA, he served 15 years in specialist departments of the Metropolitan Police. Also as Operations Director at the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), an MPAA affiliate, for 5 years.
Addressing complex and highly distributed business risks faced by global companies is Spencer’s specialization. He approaches security challenges from a business perspective creating departmental insight, organizational oversight and demystification of risk management program delivery. Spencer relocated to the Bay area, CA with his family in 2008.
Spencer is also the Chairman of the management board of the Content Distribution and Storage Association (CDSA) and was a contributory author of the CDSA Anti-Piracy Content Protection Security Standards, an open standard developed by the Media Entertainment Industry to secure intellectual property in a distributed development and distribution model.
